Sketch of the week from Shimelle.com 17th August

Here is the sketch (left)

And below is my take, Charlie and the girls making Lava Lamps

Hot Pink Hoopla - Shimelle.com crop

challenge, you need to create a project somehow inspired by this scrapbook page. It can be very similar or quite different, as you could use the entire layout as inspiration or you could pick just one thing.

Bingo cards and Butterflies - Shimelle.com crop challenge

challenge, all you have to do is create something inspired by the video. It can be very similar to the page if you like, or you can take inspiration from any element you like – the colours, the photo placement, any technique – whatever takes your fancy.

Here is my version of this, I used a heart instead of a butterfly.  I enjoyed using different shaped photos as I tend to normally print 6x4 because that's the paper size in my printer.

Signature Accent challenge - Shimelle.com crop

challenge: create a page with a product or a technique you love so much you use it relatively often. Maybe it’s become your signature accent! Whatever it might be, put it on show and share it with us!

I chose staples, I seem to be stapling alot of things to my layouts lately, not sure intentional or just lazy because I don't want to hunt for some other glue!  I also just seem to stick it on and see if it looks right too, I have been trying to use those bits that are around me, instead of thinking too much and spending 1/2 hour hunting for the 'right' embellishment! - I used the I heart title on this layout too :-)

From the Heart Challenge - Shimelle.com Crop

Challenge, create a layout with I love… or I heart… as your title.

Here is mine - I heart Curry!  homemade curry made by the OH.  Yum

Sketch of the week from Shimelle.com 12th August

This was the sketch from Shimelle's sketch of the week here

and below is my Layout

Chop your paper challenge

Challenge: Create a project (layout, card, etc) that is embellished with paper rather than embellishments. Take a piece of paper (or two) and chop it up until you have enough to dress up your page!

Oooh so wanted to stick some buttons or something on this!

Half page challenge - Shimelle.com crop

Challenge: Create a layout that only uses half the page. It can be whatever half you would like, but somewhere around half the page space needs to be breathing room!

The paper looks pinky, in real life it is dark purple!  Not sure I have picked the right title either but I do like what I have done - not saying that I will not be tempted to stick something in all that empty space!

3 is a magic number challenge - Shimelle.com crop

Challenge: Create a project (layout, card, etc) that includes a group of three in the embellishment.

I used 3 flowers, 3 buttons and 3 words (not intentionally though!) -  photos of my son posing like a model.

Let's go Retro Challenge - Shimelle.com crop

Challenge you have to scrapbook a photo from before 2011. No current pictures allowed. If you can, embrace the idea and scrap something a bit retro or something from your childhood, but I totally understand not everyone has pictures like that at the ready. So anything that is not 2011 will be acceptable!

here is mine:  Just needs date completing (1984/1985 checking with my mum!) and journalling completing (once my mum and dad confirm details).  This is a photo that was damaged and my mum and dad had restored, came out pretty well!  Dad was a fireman and we had many rides in the fire engines - loved it!

A Colour Story - Shimelle.com crop

challenge Create a project in red, white and aqua!

Used Red, white and aqua (light blue)

Grid it up scrapbook challenge - Shimelle.com

challenge: Create a project with a grid as a design element! You can interpret that any way you wish! Get creative!

Here is my version - I would of liked to have all the same letters on this, I'm trying to use what I have and think these look okay.  Only a small grid hope this counts!

Starting Point Challenge - Shimelle.com crop

Challenge: create a layout that starts from this design. You can use any papers or colours you like, but before you add any pictures, start with that large box of paper in the background, a wide vertical strip plus a narrow stripe and a horizontal block. Then complete a layout!

Here's mine, a little dark - but goes with the type of pictures I have to scrap - sometimes I wished my son would like princesses and horses and not vampires and devils!  The title is written with chalk on chalk paper (had left over from decorating sons room) - I may change to title (again, already changed twice!)

A Stickery Challenge - Shimelle.com Crop

Challenge : Create a project using stickers from more than one collection. (The stickers can be the same manufacturer or different manufacturers, but not the same paper collection – make sense?)

My lovely son came up with the title for me, he was very proud of it!  I loved this challenge as I have lots of stickers to use up!!

Shimelle.com crop challenges - A Printable Challenge

1st of a few of the challenges from Shimelle's blog Crop thingy, I didn't have chance to do any over the weekend, so have done them this week.  Challenge: Create a project (a layout, card, minibook, etc) using one or more of printable accents.

I have done an A4 size layout - my new size to try and save some space...and I love it!

Thursday 16 June 2011

Pics of my DS a few years apart helping fill the skip at his grandparents house.   Started this for the UKS scrap factor week 10, use solid colour, but then decided to add the brick paper on!

UKS Scrapfactor week 9 - use texture - also did week 8 - film/tv as inspiration.  So here is DS one of the many times of dressing up as a zombie, title is from The Walking Dead TV series.  The idea of the slashes in the paper was from DS watching art attack and him making a monster picture with these tears.
LO made with the many scraps/odd bits laying around, trying to use more of my stash - even the bits I wouldn't normally use up.  I have to add the date to the banner still - but unfortunately I can't find the photo on my hard drive to find out the date!  -  I really should make a note prior to printing!
LO using solid colour - again for UKS scrap factor week 10.    The letters were already this pattern - I can't seem to not use a pattern!!  but saying that I am on my quest to use my stash and a patterned R is what I had!!

A Walk in the Park & Get a move on Layouts

I've been trying to use up some kits, this was done with Sarahs Cards Kit form October 2009.  Lift the flap to find the journalling and additional photos.  I think it's one of my favourite layouts for a while.

Used this as Wk 6 for UKS play along scrap factor
 Under the flap part.....
I love this pic of Isaac pulling Meg along.  Don't tend to scrap in these colours.  Also used paper that was in the 'keep and never use' pile.

Charlie's art work - Part 2

Now Charlie likes that his work is on the internet and keeps drawing pictures 'to put on mummy's space on the internet'.

The Wolf
The wolf - it foes out at full moon and he eats meat and people.

New Layouts

My son (again) I got him to do the journalling - all about things he likes at the moment.  Trying to use up some kits, this ones from a Sarahs Cards Kit - Pink Paisley.

This is my b/f family meal, I am going to get him to do the journalling (when I can pin him down)

DCWV paper, using up stash at the min, so I had to include ribbon on this one, need to make a dent in it!  DS got the bring the class bear (Bruce) home for the weekend.

This LO using sketch
 from Shimelle's blog -
13th April Sketch of Week

My Beautiful Grandma.  I haven't journalled yet, I may put this on the back of the LO, unsure as yet

Charlie's art work

These are pictures by Charlie (age 7) using watercolours.  He wanted me to uploaded them for everyone to see! so enjoy!

One the left in the Geter (cold side) and on the right is the Lon (Warm side) of the 'Geter Lon' solar system.

Planet Greco in labelled (with it's name above the planet in their own language)

The second picture is......

An alien from the Planet Greco has landed on the planet that we call Earth, and they call it in their language wfdy32trxfgsayxgza.

The third picture......

This is a monster a night with the city in the background and the monster is on the big building called the Building of Tranquillity - it is called that because it has the whole solar system on the top and the biggest moon and planet is the Moon of Cheese.

Sunday and more cutting and sticking

Firstly, is there a need for a title on every layout?  I can't decide but think no, I don't always need one!

This is of me and my son, dressed up to go out for a meal for the b/f Nan's 80th.  Charlie in his new shirt looking smart (for once!)

Saturday 16 April 2011

Layout using sketch from Sarah's Cards blog

I used the sketch from this blog sarahscardsltd.blogspot.com - I don't use alot of sketches as I like to just make it up as I go along, so do find it a little hard following them - makes me think a bit more!    Not a great photo as took in the dark - haven't quite worked the best was to photograph my layouts yet (when not outside!)

This is a layout of my son, he was so happy to get the Beaver of the week trophy - he has been trying since he joined June! Also he was one of the only 2 to get his IT badge  - his first ever badge!  Everyone was awarded with the 25 years Beaver badge too, his jumper is looking very full now.

More new Layouts

Layout using colour scheme - playing along with the Scrapfactor on UKS.   It doesn't have a title as such - I do find thinking of titles hard so tend not to put one on just because I feel I should.

Charlie again....his homework for Y2 last term was to make a project about someone special either a family member or famous person - Charlie chose his Grandad Steve.  Although he told me earlier when he saw this "that he really enjoyed it but not grandad's answer to one question!"

Charlie asked "Who is your favourite grandson?"

Grandad replied "Your my favourite 7 year old grandson Charlie".

New sticking Layouts

Catching Sun rays - Layout of my son - he wanted to sunbath in the garden - the sun goes from the back at about 4.30pm, so he was up at 6.30am to make sure he didn't miss it!  A great day in the paddling pool and playing out
All about me layout using some digital elements printed onto assatate - these are all layouts used for Scrapfactor on UKS - didn't make it out of the auditions though, tough competition!
My lovely nephew on Scarborough beach - deciding he liked to eat the sand - it was in everything!
Layout not using photos - which was good as I had no photos of this - before I had the camera on mobile phones (not sure what I ever did without it!) or the digital camera.  This is the signature of the lead singer in the band, New Found Glory - he came into the Burger King in Sheffield prior to the gig we went to see.
Center Parcs - Sherwood Forest - Sunny days and relaxing weekend away with mum, dad, Sandra, Charlie and Luke.
Megan's 3rd Birthday Party at the Ball park, Charlie and Meg loved having fun together.  This was meant to be a double layout - I find DLO really hard!
